I’ve been laying low — holed up putting together a podcast called Everything We Need — a series of stories about people adapting to climate impacts and making change in their lives and communities for the better.
The podcast will be published by SBS Audio and is for people who are concerned about climate impacts and looking for meaningful and positive ways to bring the issue into their lives.
For me, this series started with the shock realisation in 2019 that the climate and environment crisis was manifesting rapidly — touching my own life and threatening the lives of my children.
I was compelled to ‘do something’ — and my family and I decided to start living more regeneratively — in small ways about the home and then working further afield to the local community and beyond.
I also unpacked my audio tools from storage — starting the creative audio project Endgame with Rob Law. We co-produced the piece Close to home which explored ‘aha’ moments and what stops us from ‘embracing the cactus’. Then I dived into my own experience in the series Toast; Refections of the climate crisis from the domestic fringe.
Now I’m ready to share the joy — the amazing people I’ve met and projects I’ve discovered that are responding rather than reacting to climate — offering a way of being that has more agency and connection and that is closer and more sympathetic to the earth and other lifeforms. Underpinning this podcast is an approach to adapting our thinking and lifestyles that is based in valuing place, empowering local communities and focusing on natural and regenerative solutions/responses.
Everything we need — will drop on Earth Day, April 22nd 2024.
Leading up to the release, I’m hoping you can support the project and help spread the word following and sharing my FB Page, Instagram account and this newsletter. I’ll be using these social platforms to expand the themes explored in the podcast and releasing additional clips and materials.
I hope you can join me and deep dive into everything we need to adapt our lives to the changing climate.
