A climate podcast about making change in our lives for the better
Happy Earth Day!

It’s a climate podcast about making change in our lives for the better.
LISTEN TO THE PROMO
The debate is over — climate change is here to stay and we all have to find ways to adapt and change with it. While it’s easy to get lost in the storm of the climate emergency, adaptation is simply finding the rhythm of a new normal.
The challenge for us as individuals, I’ve discovered while making this series, is to think holistically and long-term about our role in this — and use it as an opportunity to live better, in ways that are more integrated and harmonious with ourselves, our communities and the living environment, or rather, the more appropriate First Nations term — Country.
In the series I take the microphone into the wilds of central Victoria — and meet people and communities whose way of coping with the escalating threat of climate leads them to explore ways of being that are healthier, happier, more just and more connected with the living world we share.
Episode 1. Digging in on Mallee Country
In episode 1 we go to Mildura in Victoria, where ecologist and slow food advocate Deb Bogenhuber witnessed its agricultural land being whipped into relentless dust storms during 2019-2020.
“For me, that was a reality check, that this could be the future of Mildura, of this region, and if it is — we can't live here.” Deborah Bogenhuber
So Deb channelled her energy into a community initiative to champion local food. Along the way, putting a safety valve for local people in Mildura’s profit-focused water trading system, and helping newly arrived Australians find a place to belong.
Episode 2 Joining the dots in Maldon
In episode 2 of Everything we need we go to the sleepy town of Maldon — where climate change isn’t talked about much, even though the town is a high risk for bushfire and and its dominant older demographic are particularly vulnerable to impacts like heat waves.
“Our response wasn’t about a big push from the community to taking action - it was more, we wanted to push the community into thinking about what action they should be taking.” Amy Atkinson
Coordinator of the local Community House, Amy Atkinson, tries to get the local community to adapt to the changing climate by stealth — and discovers the deep well this community can draw on for strength and resilience in the face of climate impacts.
